Summer Research Project- Britain And Ireland's Next Top Model

Media Representation

who is being represented- Females are being represented in this programme. The females in Britain And Ireland's Nest Top Model are being represented as body conscious females that want to be seen as beautiful women. They are being represented as body conscious women by the way in which the programme shows them.  The programme shows the models as body conscious because each individual is competing to become a top model for their country. The subject of the women being body conscious is being represented in a positive way because the judges on the programme don't just pick women that are size zero, they pick what the industry call 'plus size' girls, this is to show a much curvier side and to show how a real woman looks like, this is also to appeal to a wider range of female target audiences that can relate to the show.

The representation of these models on the programme aren't fair and accurate to a certain extent because each individual is being judged on how they look and what they look like in their photo's. Also they are being judged on whether they would be a good enough female to represent their country as a top model.

what opportunities exist for self-representation by the subject?
